Religious Education
Information
Religious Education at La Mare de Carteret School
is based on Millennium Visions, the Guernsey Agreed Syllabus. This meets
statutory requirements by reflecting the mainly Christian religious traditions
of

The courses enable students to gain an
understanding that religion has practical application to everyday life and
encourages them to develop their own beliefs and values.
In this way Religious Education contributes to the
spiritual, moral, cultural and intellectual development of students and
encourages them to develop a positive understanding of diversity in our
pluralistic society. The Department does
not aim to provide nurture in a particular faith or seek to undermine the faith
of any student.
* All homework can be accessed for each year on the
web site.
Christianity
At KS3 young people are encouraged to study
Christianity as a holistic global religion.
Students study Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, Judaism, Buddhism and
Hinduism as outlined in Millennium Visions.

In Years 10 and 11 some students follow the GCSE
short course in Religious Studies.
This course is intended to make students think
about the religious and moral issues of the modern world and examine them from
the viewpoint of: Christianity, Judaism
and non-religious viewpoints.
